Christmas Serving 101

We are asking that all volunteers check in 45 minutes - 1 hour prior to service.
*If you are serving multiple services, please check in prior to the first service and ask if you need to check back in for a future role)

Volunteers will park at Compass Center nearest to the building. Shuttles will be available throughout the services to bring you to the Compass Colleyville Building.

Christmas Volunteer Central will be in the Next Steps Room by the East doors.

Christmas dress or appropriate festive is fine. All volunteers will receive a Christmas Volunteer lanyard upon check in to wear.
**Dress warm as you may be assigned near an outside door. Please be flexible. We will have coat racks if needed.

Upon check in you will receive your role and serving location. Please be flexible as the roles are based on need. If you have specific limitations, please make sure to reach out to Cara Richardson at cara.richardson@compass.church
The roles for Christmas include: Greeters/Candle Distribution, Section Hosts, Photo Assistants, New Here Assistants, Drink Station Attendants, and more.

General volunteers will be scheduled to serve as greeters, photo assistants, drink station assistants, candle distribution assistants or section hosts.
Greeters
In place at least 30 minutes prior to service
Be prepared to stay throughout the entire service - Welcome & Merry Christmas Greeting
Auditorium Door Greeters
Maintain doors closed until instructed by the Service Coordinator(s)
Provide communion and candles to each guest as they enter the Auditorium
Close middle doors after the first song - direct guests to side doors.
Outside Door Greeters
Keep doors closed if no guests are entering/exiting. This helps maintain the inside temperature.
Watch for guests who may need additional assistance or need directions.
Section Hosts
Meet, greet & seat guests
Be in place 30 minutes prior to service to help clean room and be ready to greet guests upon doors opening
Suggest guests to move in to create space
Always keep a flashlight on you to help direct guests if the room goes dark (point to the ground only)
Stay in the room until the message begins, facing the doors (not the stage) to watch for late-comers.
Communicate open seating status to Service Coordinators and door greeters
Assist as guests are exiting service by opening all outside and inside doors after the host has released.
Kid packs will be available at the back of the room if needed
Photo Assistants
Be in place at least 30 minutes prior to service
Please stay around the photo area throughout the service as the next service guests may arrive early for photos
Candle Distributors
Be in place with Greeters at least 30 minutes prior to service
Hand one candle per guest (diswade parents from allowing kids under 5 from grabbing a candle for safety)
Drink Station Assistants
Be in place 30 minutes prior to service
Greet guests as they get their own drinks - offer to help if needed
Refill any cups or other items as needed (items will be near the station)
Parking (if signed up previously)
Greet guests as they enter/exit parking the lot
Direct cars to open spots
Provide safe passage of guests in crosswalk areas
Notify security of any suspicious activity in the parking lots

Normal services on Thursday, December 19th & Sunday, December 22nd. Then the night of December 22nd, the first Christmas service will be at 6:30pm.
Kids 3 months-3 years will have Children’s Programming. All other ages will go with parents to service.
There will be baptisms after each service.

Your Service Coordinator will make the call if Additional Seating locations will be opened. The order is as follows:
Downstairs Auditorium
Balcony
4/5 room - Upstairs Kids Area
K3 room - Upstairs Kids Area

Medical Emergencies:
Please notify a staff member and/or security immediately. Please do not attempt to move anyone. The medical professionals will make that call.
Fire
Pull the nearest fire alarm. Notify the nearest staff and/or security personnel.
Assist guests in leaving the building via the nearest exit. Each environment has a specific plan to follow in order to safely evacuate all children into designated spaces outside the building.
(Parents ARE NOT to go to their children’s environments inside the building, because the children will already be evacuated and waiting outside in designated, secure locations. They will be able to pick up their children upon return to the building in an orderly fashion.)
Power Outage
In the event of a power outage, please remain calm. Assist staff in helping to keep guests calm and in place. Security and staff will give directions as needed.
Suspicious Person
If an individual makes you uncomfortable, seems out of place, is carrying a bag or clutching a suspicious item or looks suspicious, notify a staff member or security immediately. Do not approach.
